So, I’ve thought about how to say this a whole lot and didn’t come up with a good way so I’m just going to throw at the basics here, it’s a bit jumbled, hopefully you’ll make sense of it all.

The letter mentioned is the Bible. In the first couple pages of every Bible it describes a better life, and how things could be better (if it weren’t for Adam). So, have you read your Bible lately? The Bible talks alot about God and the plan he has for every child and ever child is important in this plan, and is one of a kind.

Basically "The Letter" is a song of love, like "Love Song for a Savior" except it’s the opposite, "Love Song for Humanity," don’t ya know.
