How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

Let's be honest, the easiest way to fold a fitted sheet is to roll it up into a ball and stuff it in the closet. But the second easiest way to fold a fitted sheet takes up less space, is more presentable, leads to fewer wrinkles (because who really has time to iron their sheets?) and isn't much harder than the first method.

For supplies, you will need your fitted sheet and a flat surface such as a table or a bed.

Let's start by examining the sheet. Your sheet has four corners, each with a "pocket" that one of the corners of your mattress fits in to. Put one hand into one of the "head" pockets and put the other hand into the "foot" pocket on the same side of the sheet. The wrong side of the sheet should be facing out. Fold one of the corners that you are holding over the other corner so that the right side is facing out. You now have two corners on one hand and two corners dangling.

This is where it gets a bit tricky but resist the urge to wad up the sheet and call it good. You can do this. With your free hand, pick up the corner that is furthest away from you, the one that is closest to the top corner on your other hand. When you find it, place it on top of the corners that you already have on your one hand, wrong side out. Take the last remaining corner still hanging loose and place that one on top of the others, right side facing out.

This is where your flat surface comes in handy. Straighten out your sheet. The four corners that your fit inside of each other become one corner and from that base you can find and straighten your other corners. Once you have a general idea of the shape of your sheet you can lay it on your table and straighten it out. Wipe out as many wrinkles as you can and make the sheet into a shape as close to a square as you can.

Fold the sheet one way into thirds or fourths depending on the size of your sheet. Fold the sheet the other way in thirds or fourths. Stand back and view your masterpiece.

You're now a fitted sheet folding expert.
